United Methodist Women

February 1, 2021
Greetings to all, and welcome to 2021. I don’t think anyone would disagree that the year 2020 was very trying at best, and a year that saw the evolution of many “new normals.” While the women of LU’s UMW, like everyone, were unable to undertake any new missions, we have continued with our support of Erin’s Angels, local military families, and our support of each other. Whenever a member of our congregation is in need, we strive to do all that we can to help. An example of this has been to organize a schedule of meals, prepared by the ladies of UMW, and delivered to members who were recovering from surgeries. Assistance with meals during difficult times like this proved to be very helpful, and was greatly appreciated. As a church family, we are there for each other when a need arises.

We have also continued with our support of Erin’s Angels, to help in addressing the problem of food insecurity in the Phoenix School District. Additionally, we have continued with our grocery store gift cards at Christmas time, to assist local military families in need. We are looking forward to 2021 being a year that brings a return to normalcy, when we can not only increase our support of our existing missions, but undertake new ones as well.

Peace and good health to all in this new year!

Blessings to All,

Donna Fingland, UMW President

One of our church members has been making and donating face masks where there was a shortage as her family’s mission for 2020 and 2021. Her husband buys the supplies and she does the sewing.

She has donated to Essential Workers in Oswego and Onondaga County. She also donated masks to children in special need classes for Syracuse schools, foster care families, firemen, medical workers and first responders. Masks have also been donated to the Salvation Army, Office of the Aged, Post Office workers and wherever masks were needed. Let’s pray this will come to an end soon.
